Terms of Service
Last updated: April 2026
DebriefKit is an AI-powered conversational intake tool for freelance developers and agencies. By using DebriefKit, you agree to the following terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using DebriefKit, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Description of Service
DebriefKit is a web application that helps freelance developers and agencies collect project requirements from clients through AI-powered conversational intake sessions. Clients interact with an AI assistant via a shareable intake link, and the freelancer receives a structured brief summarizing the project details.
3. Your Account
- You must create an account to use DebriefKit as a freelancer or agency. Clients do not need an account to complete an intake session.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
4. Free Tier & Limitations
The free tier includes the following limits:
- Up to 10 intake sessions per month
- Up to 3 active intake links
- Access to standard intake templates
Free tier limits reset at the beginning of each calendar month. We reserve the right to modify free tier limits with reasonable notice.
Paid plans with higher limits and additional features may be offered in the future. Pricing and terms for paid plans will be communicated separately.
5. User Content & Intellectual Property
- You own your data. You retain full ownership of all content you and your clients provide through DebriefKit, including conversation data, structured briefs, templates, and business information.
- By using DebriefKit, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the service (powering AI conversations and generating briefs).
- We do not claim ownership of your content, briefs, or templates.
- We do not use your content to train AI models or share it with other users.
- DebriefKit, including its name, logo, design, and code, is our intellectual property and may not be copied or redistributed.
6. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
- Intake conversations and structured briefs are generated by artificial intelligence (OpenAI GPT-5.4-nano).
- AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or omissions. The AI may misinterpret client responses or produce incomplete summaries.
- Structured briefs are a starting point for your project scoping — they are NOT a substitute for direct client communication, professional judgment, or formal contracts.
- You should always review and verify AI-generated briefs before using them for project proposals, estimates, or contracts.
- We continuously work to improve AI accuracy but cannot guarantee error-free output.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to:
- Use DebriefKit for any unlawful purpose.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the application.
- Interfere with or disrupt the service’s operation, servers, or infrastructure.
- Use the service to collect sensitive personal data (health records, financial information, social security numbers) from clients without appropriate safeguards.
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the service or circumvent usage limits.
- Share, resell, or redistribute your account access.
- Misrepresent the AI assistant as a human when communicating with clients.
8. Service Availability
We strive to keep DebriefKit available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or factors beyond our control.
DebriefKit depends on third-party services (Clerk, OpenAI, Convex). Outages or changes to these services may affect availability or functionality.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service with reasonable notice.
9. Limitation of Liability
- DebriefKit is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
- We are not liable for: inaccurate AI-generated briefs, misinterpreted client requirements, data loss, service interruptions, or any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
- We are not responsible for decisions you make based on AI-generated briefs, including project estimates, contracts, or scope commitments.
- Our total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you have paid to DebriefKit in the 12 months preceding the claim.
- Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation of liability, so these limitations may not apply to you.
10. Termination
- We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms or engage in abusive use of the service.
- You may stop using DebriefKit and delete your account at any time.
- Upon account deletion, all your data (sessions, messages, briefs, templates, and profile information) will be permanently removed.
- Sections that by their nature should survive termination (limitation of liability, intellectual property, etc.) will survive.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the applicable courts.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time.
Material changes will be communicated via email or through a notice in the application.
Continued use of DebriefKit after changes constitutes acceptance.
The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent revision.
